Dr. Prasher graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC),Pune in 1972. He completed MD Medicine in 1978 and obtained DM in Nephrology from PGIMER Chandigarh in 1987. He has worked as Consultant in Nephrology at various super-specialty hospitals of the armed forces and specializes in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. After retirement from the army, Dr Prasher worked as Consultant in Nephrology at Fortis Hospital Mohali and started the Dialysis Unit and the Nephrology Department there. He has also been associated with teaching of MBBS and MD (Medicine) students at Gian Sagar Medical College and MM Institute of Medical Sciences Mullana. He has been responsible for setting up of Dialysis Units in both the institutions. Presently, he is working as Senior Consultant in Nephrology at Healing Hospital Chandigarh.

He actively participates in clinical research trials and has been published in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of the State Medical Society and Baylor University Medical Center’s Proceedings. At Hahnemann Hospital in conjunction with Drexel University, where he received extensive training in coronary as well as peripheral interventions and limb salvage procedures.
He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL where he was selected as a Chief Internal Medicine Resident. He then went to LSU Medical School in New Orleans where he was an Honors Program Graduate and finished in the top quartile of his graduating class.
