Biography

Dr. Kanwalpreet Saroya is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Healing Hospital, Chandigarh with 8+ years of comprehensive experience in paediatric care, neonatal medicine, and child health management. He brings exceptional expertise in caring for vulnerable populations, including sick newborns and children facing complex health challenges, combined with a heartfelt commitment to the well-being of every child he treats.

Dr. Saroya completed his MBBS and MD in Paediatrics from Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab, where he developed a strong foundation in clinical medicine and patient care. He quickly earned a reputation for his unwavering dedication and compassionate care, gaining comprehensive training in all aspects of child health, growth and development, and paediatric diseases.

Understanding that each child is unique and requires individualized care, Dr. Saroya pursued advanced specialization by completing Fellowship in Neonatology from the National Neonatology Forum (NNF)—India’s premier organization for neonatal care—where he received extensive hands-on training in managing critically ill newborns, premature infants, neonatal emergencies, and neonatal intensive care. He further enriched his knowledge by completing Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatric Nutrition from Boston, USA, gaining international expertise in infant and child nutrition, growth monitoring, and nutritional disorders.

His commitment to excellence is also reflected in his specialized certifications in Paediatric Haematology from the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), equipping him with expertise in childhood blood disorders, anaemia, bleeding disorders, and haematological malignancies, and Paediatric Dermatology from the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), providing him with skills in diagnosing and managing common and complex childhood skin conditions.

With a wealth of experience in paediatrics, Dr. Saroya specializes in caring for vulnerable populations with expertise that encompasses not only the management of critical illnesses but also nurturing healthy growth and development. He is particularly passionate about helping children with lung disorders like asthma, ensuring that they can breathe easier and thrive through comprehensive asthma management, controller medications, rescue therapy, and lifestyle modifications.

Dr. Saroya is well-equipped to handle a range of paediatric infections, including typhoid fever, dengue fever, malaria, and other tropical and common childhood infections, always approaching each case with empathy, understanding, and evidence-based treatment protocols. He has a special focus on paediatric epilepsy (seizure disorders, anti-epileptic medication management, seizure control) and endocrinal disorders (thyroid issues including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, childhood diabetes including Type 1 diabetes management, growth hormone disorders, puberty-related disorders), addressing these conditions with sensitivity, compassionate care, and family-centered approach.

His expertise also extends to managing kidney-related disorders (urinary tract infections, nephrotic syndrome, nocturnal enuresis/bedwetting, kidney function disorders) and promoting adolescent health, including obesity management, recognizing the importance of holistic care during these formative years through lifestyle counselling, nutritional guidance, and preventive health strategies.

Dr. Saroya specializes in comprehensive paediatric care including sick newborn care and treatment (neonatal sepsis, respiratory distress in newborns, birth asphyxia, prematurity care, neonatal jaundice, feeding problems in newborns), child growth and nutrition (growth monitoring, failure to thrive, nutritional deficiencies, infant feeding counselling, obesity management), child lung-related disorders (asthma management, recurrent respiratory infections, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, chronic cough), paediatric critical care (management of critically ill children, emergency stabilization, acute illnesses), paediatric infections (typhoid fever, dengue fever, malaria, viral infections, bacterial infections, childhood tuberculosis), paediatric epilepsy (seizure management, anti-epileptic therapy, developmental concerns), paediatric endocrinal disorders (thyroid disorders, diabetes mellitus, growth disorders, pubertal abnormalities), child kidney-related disorders (urinary tract infections, nephrotic syndrome, nocturnal enuresis, kidney stones), adolescent health (puberty counselling, growth concerns, adolescent nutrition, mental health), and childhood obesity (weight management, lifestyle modification, dietary counselling).

Dr. Saroya actively engages with families, educating them about paediatric health and wellness, believing that informed parents are key partners in a child’s journey to health. His patient-centered approach ensures that families understand their child’s condition, treatment plan, and preventive strategies, creating a collaborative environment for optimal health outcomes.

He has made academic contributions with research on incidence of hypoglycaemia in newborns according to gestational age and birth weight, presented papers at IAP Pedicon in Bangalore, and actively participated in paediatric critical care clinics, POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound) workshops, and national level paediatric conferences, continuously updating his knowledge and skills.

He is a Life Member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)—the premier organization for paediatricians in India, Life Member of the National Neonatology Forum (NNF)—the apex body for neonatology in India, and Life Member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), actively participating in continuing medical education and advancing child healthcare.

According to Dr. Saroya, “Every child deserves not just medical treatment but compassionate care that nurtures their growth, development, and overall well-being. As paediatricians, we are privileged to be partners in a child’s journey to health.” He is medically very sound and believes in ethical practice with evidence-based, family-centered treatment for his young patients. His compassionate demeanour and clinical expertise make him a beloved addition to the medical team, ensuring that each child receives not just treatment but also the nurturing support they deserve.
